OUR TESTIMONIALS
What People Ask Us Most
What is the difference between a visa and a permit in Canada?
A visa is an entry document placed in your passport that allows you to travel to a Canadian port of entry. A permit, such as a study or work permit, authorizes you to study or work inside Canada legally. A visa does not grant permission to work or study, and a permit does not guarantee entry; both may be required, depending on your situation.
How long does IRCC take to process applications?
Processing times vary depending on the application type, the applicant’s country of residence, and IRCC’s workload. Updated processing times are published regularly on the IRCC website. At Eliana Immigration Inc., we provide an estimated timeline during your consultation and keep you informed throughout the process.
Do I need an RCIC to apply for immigration to Canada?
Hiring a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. An RCIC ensures your application is accurate, complete, and strategically prepared in accordance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Regulations (IRPR). Professional representation can significantly reduce errors and delays.
What is a Study Permit, and do I need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) as
well?
A Study Permit authorizes you to study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. Depending on your nationality, IRCC may also issue a TRV or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to allow entry. Students often require both documents to arrive and remain compliant in Canada.
How can I qualify for a Work Permit in Canada?
Work permits fall into two main categories: Employer-Specific Work Permits (usually requiring an LMIA) and Open Work Permits (e.g., for spouses of students or workers, certain PGWP graduates, or vulnerable workers). Eligibility depends on your job offer, status in Canada, and applicable immigration programs.
What are the main pathways to becoming a Permanent Resident of Canada?
Canada offers multiple PR pathways, the most common include:
Express Entry (Federal Skilled Worker, CEC, Federal Skilled Trades)
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
Family Sponsorship
Business/Investor programs
Refugee and Protected Persons streams
We assess your profile to recommend the most suitable pathway for your
qualifications and long-term goals.
Can I apply for a Study Permit from inside Canada?
Yes. Certain individuals, including visitors with valid status who meet specific criteria, graduates of certain short-term programs, spouses/children of workers or students, and others listed in IRPR, may apply for a Study Permit from within Canada. Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
What happens if my application is refused?
If IRCC refuses your application, we may request GCMS notes to understand the
reasoning. Options include reapplying with stronger documentation, addressing the officer’s concerns, or exploring an alternative program. We assist clients by analyzing refusals and developing a strategic plan.
Can I bring my family with me to Canada?
Many immigration programs allow you to include or later sponsor spouses, common-law- law partners, and dependent children. Eligibility varies depending on the program. For example, international students may bring spouses on an open work permit and children on study/visitor status.
What are the benefits of using Eliana Immigration Inc.?
We offer professional, ethical, and personalized immigration services as a licensed RCIC practice. Clients benefit from accurate eligibility assessments, complete application preparation, strategic guidance, and ongoing support. Our priority is to help you navigate the Canadian immigration process with confidence and clarity.
